How to Guide to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 untethered with Greenpois0n RC 5.
After a long wait, finally Chronic Dev-Team has released the Greenpois0n RC 5 to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 ‘untethered’ on all devices. The recent release of Greenpois0n RC 5 does not require you to have SHSH blobs saved for 4.2b3 on the Cydia. Previously Dev-Team had released redsn0w 0.9.7 to achieve the same Jailbreak which required the SHSH blobs for iOS 4.2b3 and it was only available to users who had the Developer account. Anyhow here is the Quick guide to Jailbreak your iOS device with the latest version of Greenpois0n RC5
What do you require:
Important Note:
iPhone 4 users who rely on Carrier Unlock, must stay away from it. As upgrading to iOS 4.2.1 will update your baseband as well which is not unlockable as of yet.
Step by Step Guide:
Step 1. First of All Download the Greenpois0n RC5 from the Links above.
Step 2. Now connect your iPhone via USB cable to your computer and Launch Greenpois0n. And Click ‘Prepare to Jailbreak DFU’
Step 3. Now you would require to put your Device in DFU Mode.
Step 5. Once the Jailbreak is complete Click Complete button to finish the Application. You will find ‘Loader’ icon your Homescreen. Press to Launch it and Install Cydia. That’s it. You have now successfully Jailbroken your device on iOS 4.2.1.

- Hold down both Home Button and Sleep/awake Button at the same for 10 seconds.
- After 10 seconds release Sleep/Awake Button However Keep holding the Home Button until iTunes pops up a message that ‘ iTunes has detected an iPhone in Recovery Mode ‘ and iPhone Screen would go blank. that’s it.
Step 4. Once your Device is in DFU Mode. Press Jailbreak and It would start the process.
Step 5. Once the Jailbreak is complete Click Complete button to finish the Application. You will find ‘Loader’ icon your Homescreen. Press to Launch it and Install Cydia. That’s it. You have now successfully Jailbroken your device on iOS 4.2.1.

The purpose of this guide is to provide you step by step instructions to jailbreak iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G using limera1n.

Here are some important points to note before you proceed.
This guide is ONLY for iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G users.
Please note that jailbreaking your iPod Touch may void its warranty and hence proceed with caution.
- Do not forget to backup your iPod Touch before you proceed. You can refer to this post for instructions on how to backup your iPod Touch.
- Though limera1n supports iOS 4, iOS 4.0.1, iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 4.1, you can update it to iOS 4.1 and then jailbreak it using limera1n.
- Limera1n is currently available for Windows, Geohot plans to release the Mac and Linux versions of limera1n soon.

- Please ensure you are running iTunes 9.2 or later.
INSTALATION STEPS
Step 1: Download the latest version of limera1n WIN or MAC and save the application on your desktop.
Step 2: Double click on the limera1n exe to launch the application.
Step 3: Please ensure that your iPod Touch is connected to the computer.
Step 4: Click on the "make it rain” button.
Step 2: Double click on the limera1n exe to launch the application.
Step 3: Please ensure that your iPod Touch is connected to the computer.
Step 4: Click on the "make it rain” button.
Step 5: You will see that limera1n puts your iPod Touch in recovery mode. Immediately after this, follow the instructions.
Step 6: Limera1n will be prompt you to press both the home and power buttons.
Step 7: Limera1n will be then prompt you to release the Power button. Continue to press the home button.
Step 8: You will see that limera1n has put your iPod Touch in DFU mode. Continue to press the home button.
Step 9: While limera1n performs the exploit, you will see the limera1n logo on your iPod Touch.
Step 10: When limera1n has successfully jailbroken your iPod Touch, you will see “done” and get the following message.
Step 11: You need to restart your iPod Touch. You will notice that there is a new app called limera1n installed on your iPod Touch.
Step 12: Launch the limera1n app to install Cydia on your iPod Touch. Select Cydia and tap on the Install button to download and install it.
Step 13: After Cydia has been installed, reboot your iPod Touch.
Step 14: You should find Cydia on your iPod Touch’s homescreen. If you want you can launch the limera1n app to uninstall it.

Dev Team recently released a beta version of the application redsn0w,, able to enter the Jailbreak mode all untethered devices operating in the software iOS 4.2.1. Currently the program redsn0w 0.9.7b4 is available only for Mac OS X platform, but on Twitter one of the developers can read that are on-going work on a version for Windows. To be able to use the beta version, our device must have saved the file SHSH version 4.2b3. If so we have our device can be fully jailbreaked and will no longer need to connect it to your computer whenever will be turn off. Before begin, some important information.

Hit Next. Procedure starts placing the device in DFU mode. We follow the onscreen instructions

Instructions:
1. Upload soft 4.2.1 (if you have not done)
2. Redsn0w Run (Win 7 and Vista - compatibility mode with XP + administrator)
3. Press "Browse" and point out where we have saved soft 4.2.1. The program will think a moment, and we can press the "Next"
4. You get quite a number of options (depending on device)
Install Cydia - jailbreak + install Cydia (select)
Install custom bundle - the installation of any file. "Deb" at jailbreaku (rarely useful)
Install iPad baseband - baseband installation of IPAD (required here)
Verbose boot - instead of the Apple logo when you turn on the command line hacker can see (useless, but it looks cute)
Custom boot logo - instead of the Apple logo can give your own picture (not useful, but it looks cute)
Custom Logo recovery - instead of the icon in the iTunes and cable recovery mode, we can give your own picture (very useless, but it looks cute)
Enable multitasking - Unlock multi-tasking on older equipment (according to preference, reportedly works well)
Enable homescreen wallpaper - wallpaper for the unlock icon (according to preference, I do not recommend - redundant Bajer)
Enable battery percentage - the percentage to unlock the battery indicator (useful tick)
Deactvate - deactivate the device (required here)
Just boot tethered right now - required for appliances with the "JB tethered," when we turn off the device
Just enter DFU mode pwned right now - a special DFU mode (only in exceptional cases, when iTunes does not want us to upload the firmware)
Move on by pressing the "Next"
Now we have to introduce the device in DFU mode. Very often, do not go for the first time, but believe me - you can be.
